Winner of the Provider of The Year

EMILY BUSH, OTR/L

Emily Bush graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration.  She worked as a Rehab Aide at The Children’s Center where she learned about an interesting career: occupational therapy.  In 2007 she attended the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center to pursue her Master’s in Occupational Therapy.  Upon graduation in 2010 she got married and moved to Altus where she worked as an OT in a small school district and part time at JCMH outpatient clinic.  While working there she saw a need in her community for extracurricular activities for children with special needs. In 2014, she started her own company called Fun to Functional Therapy and continued to grow her school contracts and worked as a contract SoonerStart provider.   In 2016 she founded A League of Our Own, for kids with special needs in Southwest Oklahoma.  There were 7 athletes for the first baseball game and now there are over 40 athletes and families from 8 different communities who participate in events like baseball, bowling, adaptive Easter Egg hunts, sensory friendly movies for families, paint nights, stock shows, and a back to school swim party.

Baseball season this summer marked the 7th year of A League of Our Own. She currently lives in Altus, Oklahoma with her husband Brandon, daughters Brynn and Everly and son, Bodi.   She contracts with 7 school districts in Southwest Oklahoma and organizes monthly A League of Our Own events and volunteers. Emily encourages everyone to like and follow the A League of Our Own Facebook page.
